Thrifty Finds – Oct 20

Red Cast Iron Milk Stool

I haven’t shown my thrifty finds lately.  Here goes…this awesome cast iron, red milking stool.  Loved it.  Listed it and it sold within a few days of listing.  There would be so many uses for it.  It also would work in a vignette.  I was thinking if it hadn’t sold, I would have used it for Christmas décor.

Coca Cola Crate a

Another red item…I found another Coca Cola crate.  Just got it listed.  These usually don’t stick around for long.

Wood Riding Horse Toy b

Look at this adorable wood, riding horse.  It is so cute.  I love the chippy wood, the red and green paint….hmmm, maybe I can use this in my Christmas décor.

Mohawk Minnow Bucket a

This minnow bucket with its green font logo is wonderful.  Love the aged galvanized metal.

Ironing Board a

This green ironing board I just listed, but I am trying to decide about it.  I have been thinking about a memo board in my den.  This would work, just hang and add magnets.

Kennedy Books a

With the 50th anniversary of John F Kennedy’s assassination I finally listed these two Memorial booklets that honored him at the time.  Very cool history.  I really enjoyed going through them.

Samsonite Train Case a

Another awesome train case.  I have sold almost 10 of these things.  They usually sell within 30 days of listing them.  There are so many uses for them.  This one is in very good condition, so I expect it to go quickly.

Amber Flower Pitcher a

Amber pitchers are slow movers, but they do sell.  It is so late 70s and early 80s.  This one has a great shape and love the flower on the side.

McCoy Donkey planter a

I have sold a couple of planters and have found there is a market out there for them.  Not sure if the brown drip glaze is very popular.  Guess I will see if this McCoy donkey planter will sell.

Schmidt collector Animal Mugs a

I am selling these beer mugs that are from the Schmidt Beer Collectors Series.  These are the first 2 through 5.  I wish I had found the 1st one, but if someone wants a quick collection, this would be a great way to start.

Gamebird Glasses a

There is no mark on these footed glasses that have game birds on them, so I don’t know the brand, but they are in awesome condition.  Because Big M is into hunting I like to display glasses like these.  Right now I have pheasant glasses on display.

Replogle Globe a

Finally, I listed a couple of globes.  This one is my favorite ever.  I love the metal ring stand.  It is a Replogle True to Life Globe from the late 1980s.

So what are you finding in your thrifting adventures?

Rush of Remembering – Spaghetti Drizzle Cups

il_570xN_317144447

Oh my, I so had that rush of remembering again.  Booth88 on Esty liked one of my items, so I decided to check her shop out when if found these Spaghetti Drizzle Cups.

My parents had these cups while I was growing up.  They had a group of couples who got together monthly for a Card Club.  They played pinocle.  I remember sitting next to my Mom or Dad watching and learning.  Yes, I love to play pinocle to this day.  They always served drinks in these glasses.  The roly-poly bottoms didn’t keep them upright.  They would spill and right themselves. The colors were soft.  I loved those glasses.  I wonder whatever happened to these glasses.

These are one item that if I ever found for a good price, I would keep for myself.

Thrifty Finds – Jan 20

Potbelly finial a

I have not been to a garage sale since September; there are none in my area.  We might start seeing some in late April, but right now it is just too cold.  We are supposed to have about -45 degrees with wind chill tonight.  Yes that is a negative.  So it is cold here right now.  Definitely not garage sale weather.  I also haven’t been to an auction since October.  There actually have been a couple of indoor auctions lately, but too busy with my boys’ swim and basketball seasons to be able to attend.

I have been thrifting in my garage.  I hadn’t put away several items from last fall, so I am slowly getting them cleaned up and listed. The finial stop top piece above is a fun, ornate item that would be fun to repurpose.

Pot Belly Lid a

Because I love old rusty pieces I picked up this Pot Belly Stove Damper.  This would be cute in an old farm display.

Desk Lamp c

I also pick up old desk lamps when I find them.  I have sold a few, so I recently listed this Desk Lamp.  I actually would like it, but I do not know how to rewire a lamp. It works as it, but I would prefer it to have current cords.  Maybe that needs to be something I learn to do.  Another to do item.

High Ball Glasses Stars c

I usually have great luck with old glasses so I listed this Atomic Highball Glass set.  I like the slender look of these glasses.

GM Roly Poly glasses d

These Roly Poly Silver Rimmed glasses were from General Motors. They were given to employees for years of service.  I only have 5, but they are fun for any car enthusiast.

Blue Suitcase Trunk a

Finally, I keep listing my suitcases as I find boxes for them. Large boxes can be hard to find.  I usually ship them parcel post so that I can keep the shipping to around $20. This Blue Speckled Trunk is funky.  It is large and would make a great piece to store items, yet be decorative as well.

My sales are consistently about 1 item a day which is my goal.  I find that if I keep listing one or two items every day or two, my sales stay consistent.  It has been hard with the illnesses in our house, sports schedules for the boys, longer working hours for Big M and semester end for school.  I am looking forward to listing more and blogging more as I can.
